A Two-Night Fishing Getaway in the Redwoods: What Our Package Includes
Planning a fishing trip with lodging in Northern California usually means booking a charter in one place, a room somewhere else, and hoping the two line up. Scotia Lodge package takes that problem away. Here is what is included, what the morning on the water involves, and how the rest of your time is filled in around it.
Scotia Lodge offers a two-night fishing getaway package in Northern California's redwoods, bundling lodging, breakfast, a charter boat, fishing rod, and bait into a single booking. The morning trip runs 8 to 12 miles offshore with 4 to 5 anglers per boat targeting halibut and seasonal salmon, returning by early afternoon, while the second night allows guests to rest before exploring nearby Humboldt Redwoods State Park, dining at Main and Mill Kitchen and Bar, or visiting the spa.
What Our Two-Night Fishing Getaway in the Redwoods Includes
The package is built around one simple idea. You should not have to arrange a trip in four separate pieces just to get out on the water for a morning. So the room, the breakfast, the boat and the gear all sit inside a single booking, and the rest of your stay is yours to plan or leave wide open.
What Comes With the Package
Our fishing package covers a two-night stay with us, breakfast, the charter boat, a fishing rod and bait. That last part removes a real barrier for people. A saltwater setup costs money and takes up half a car, and buying one for a single morning makes no sense at all, which is the exact reason plenty of people never get around to booking a charter in the first place. Here the rod is ready, and the bait is sorted, so there is nothing to buy beforehand and nothing extra to load in before you set off.
Why Two Nights and Not One
This is the part that makes the most difference in practice. The boat goes out early, so arriving the night before is not a luxury. It is the only sensible way to make a start like that. Trips usually return between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and by then you have been awake since well before dawn. A second night means you are not climbing back into the car tired and salt-covered for a long drive home. You get a shower, a real meal, and a full night of sleep first. It is the difference between a trip you enjoy and a trip you survive.
The Morning on the Water
Guests usually head to the bay at around 6:00 AM and go out with the assigned captain. There are typically around four to five people per boat, and the trip generally runs about eight to twelve miles offshore. Guests may fish for halibut and other local fish, with salmon available on certain days. No charter can promise a catch and we would rather not pretend otherwise. What you get is a small group, an assigned captain who knows this water, and a fair shot at a good morning.
Where You Sleep
Scotia Lodge is a historic hotel with 22 guest rooms, reopened in 2021, with every guest room renovated in recent years. Rooms here range from Cozy Queens to Premium Kings and Two Bedroom Suites, so there is a fit whether you are traveling alone, as a pair or with a group. The building has kept its original character through all of it, which is a rare thing to find attached to a fishing trip. We are pet-friendly as well, which matters more than people expect when a trip stretches across two nights.
What Fills the Rest of the Trip
A redwood getaway with fishing included gives you more to do than a straight charter booking ever could. We sit at the northern entrance to the Avenue of the Giants, with Humboldt Redwoods State Park only minutes away, so an afternoon among some of the tallest trees on earth is waiting the moment you step off the boat. There is dinner at Main and Mill Kitchen and Bar, which serves Thursday to Sunday, a treatment at the spa if your shoulders have taken a beating, and the Wonder Bar for a quiet drink afterwards. The fishing gets you here. The second night is what all of this is for.
A Fishing Trip With Lodging in Northern California, Without the Drive Home
Most people booking a weekend fishing trip from Sacramento or the Bay Area try to squeeze too much into too little time. Drive up late, sleep badly, fish, then drive home the same afternoon. It works on paper. In practice, it wears you down before the weekend has properly started. Two nights at Scotia Lodge changes the math completely. The drive up becomes the start of the trip instead of a race against an alarm clock, and you head home rested rather than running on four hours of sleep and a gas station coffee.
Book It as One Trip Instead of Four Bookings
If a fishing trip has been sitting on your list because of everything involved in arranging one, this package exists for that reason alone. A single booking covers where you sleep, breakfast during your stay, the boat, and the gear you fish with. We would rather you spent that energy on the water than on a spreadsheet full of phone numbers and confirmation codes. Have a look at what the package includes, pick your dates, and let us handle the rest of it. The trees, the food and the quiet evening afterwards all come with it.
